Here’s a quick Valentine’s Day project if you’re feeling lovey but haven’t had a chance to craft anything to express your feelings! :)  I think a bunch of these little hearts would look adorable strung up as a Valentine’s Day decoration. I used up some blue sky alpacas cotton and a size 6 needle for my heart, but I think it would look cute in many different sizes.

Valentine’s Heart:

CO 3 sts
Row 1: Knit into front and back of stitch, k1, knit into front and back of stitch
Row 2 (and all even rows through row 12): purl across
Row 3: k2, M1R, k1, M1L, k2
Row 5: k3, M1R, k1, M1L, k3
Row 7: k4, M1R, k1, M1L, k4
Row 9: k5, M1R, k1, M1L, k5
Row 11: k6, M1R, k1, M1L, k6
Row 13: k7, M1R, k1, M1L, k7
Row 14: p8, BO center stitch, p8
Row 15 (working separately on each side of heart now): k1, ssk, k2, k2tog, k1
Row 16: purl across
Row 17: k1, ssk, k2tog, k1
Row 18: BO 4 sts in purl

Repeat Rows 15-18 for the other side of the heart.

Starting at the bottom point, work half double crochet in a contrasting color around the edge of the heart.
